Why people dislike Kolkata so much

Why people dislike Kolkata so much

Why everyone dislikes Kolkata so much

Well I like every state or every corner of my country, Kolkata is one of them. Kolkata is a metropolis of my own country and has once been a center of art and business. Since people often ask this question as to why people from other states of India dislike Kolkata so much, I as a Kolkata resident and observer would like to answer it. So, as the main reason I would say it is because Kolkata is the land of pseudo-intellectuals who refuse to look outside Kolkata. Have you ever argued with a Bengali from Kolkata? He will defend Kolkata with all passion and pride regardless of anything - until you surrender and end up saying "I give up and agree with your claims!"

Political Environment

Spicy, but frivolous and fuzzy! This place has been a center of politics even before India's independence. The capital of British India still enjoys its fair share of politics even though it has no meaning and relevance today, and gets really high marks on this scale. The color of politics here is different. Local goons and clubs rule the parties and you'll feel helpless and alone about it. They influence the political agenda as well as the political environment. Local parties such as CPM or TMC also work in this flow. These political goons rule and define the city and its political culture from behind the scenes and sometimes from the front!

Overpopulated and filthy

Kolkata is a very densely populated city. Here Howrah and Sealdah are two major railway entry points and quite pathetic too. The city was once the epitome of European style and architecture in India during the British period. But today the picture is different. Along with the narrow lanes of the city, the overly dense population, the tight mentality of the people have beautified this glorious city with the title of dying city. I am not complaining but unfortunately this has become the reality of it. Be it the infrastructure of the city or economic development or cleanliness, it is being defeated everywhere. Compare it to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc. You will get an idea of the situation yourself.

Lack of opportunities

Politics is a part of every democracy in the world and it is very common and usual thing. But due to the narrow mentality and aggressive political mindset here, the low level and short-sighted politicians have been provided an opportunity and environment to flourish since the independence. Just because of this, Kolkata, which was once the most prosperous city of India, has become the most disliked place for the investors from India and abroad since independence. And whenever any industrialist wanted to invest here, he was also shown the way out by the indecent and low level politicians here. And in all this, the natives have given great support and love to such politicians. As a result, even those who had a progressive mindset could not do much due to the lack of opportunities and infrastructure.

Excessive talkative and least productive population

All the reasons I have mentioned above have only one reason or source, and that is the mentality of the natives here, a narrow mentality and useless aggression. It is true that in the pre-independence period, there have been excellent scholars and leaders on the land of Bengal. But the Bengalis here have lived till today only in their praise and pride of those personalities. People here are far ahead when it comes to making claims of superiority, talking excessively and senseless political debates, but when it comes to doing things or taking risks, they go behind and start telling the shortcomings in others.
When people here were busy in claiming their culture and language to be supreme, on the other hand the other cities of India, which were far behind from Kolkata in the pre-independence peroid, went on climbing the stairs of progress.
